Cloud Senior Data Architect

We are currently interviewing for a Senior Data Architect to support a complex federal contract to develop and deploy a Cloud-First ecosystem with software engineering and data architecture designs focused on, and aligned to, business capabilities. The overall program consists of cloud infrastructure, platforms, and applications for a shared services federal government customer including cloud modernization strategy, cloud managed services, developing processes for cloud service provisioning, and enhancing cloud capabilities to solve mission problems.

In this role, you’ll be architecting a cloud-first data solution for multiple shared service capabilities in the cloud. Data architectures and solutions will be modernized, rationalized, streamlined, and automated to present a frictionless data solution that empowers business capabilities solutions. You’ll be building, optimizing, and maintaining data models at a conceptual, logical, and instantiated level. For this role, you will need to know how to analyze capability and solution requirements to determine optimal data solutions in addition to determining migration strategies for existing data.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and develop data solutions for cloud-first business capabilities in a shared service model.
  • Design and architect conceptual, logical, and instantiated data solutions, models, and flows.
  • Demonstrate solution performance efficiency comparing/contrasting performance and cost tradeoffs.
  • Define security, backup, and audit architectures for data solutions collaborating with supporting teams.
  • Design, architect, and support the implementation of DataOps automated pipelines covering frictionless ingestion, landing, transformation, QA, security, presentation, and consumption of data solutions.
  • Design, architect, and support performance and operational monitoring capabilities for data solutions.
  • Build data solution standards, policies, procedures, structure, etc covering the complete data lifecycle inclusive of security, monitoring, backup, intake, transformation, quality, etc.
  • Function as the key architect and advisor covering data management inclusive of quality, curation, integration, semantics / harmonization, cataloging, discoverability, accessibility, etc.
  • Continually review and, as beneficial, pilot new features and capabilities within data solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or another relevant field. Master’s is preferred.
  • Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, Data Warehouse Architect, Data Warehouse Engineer, Solution Architect, or similar role in the AWS Cloud.
  • Prior experience developing data solutions, strategies, and conceptual, logical, instantiated models.
  • Deep experience with SQL and AWS cloud database systems (DynamoDB, RDS – Aurora or MySQL).
  • Proven software engineering experience in any modern language: Python, Java, Scala, C#, Javascript or similar.
  • In depth understanding of data structure within operational data stores as well as ingestion and transformation pipelines bringing data into, and out of, such data stores within the AWS Cloud.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications (any combination):

  • AWS Cloud Certifications: Big Data, Data Analytics, Solution Architecture, Developer, ML.
  • Cloud Data Lake (Data Lakes, Lake Formation, Lakehouse, Databricks, Spark, etc.)
  • Cloud Data Warehouse (RedShift, Spectrum)
  • Experience with real-time or streaming data (Kafka, Managed Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Cloud-Native Analytics (Athena, QuickSight, Tableau, or similar)
  • Master Data Management
  • Experience building Automated Data Ingestion Pipelines within DataOps
  • Experience working on agile, DevOps, DevSecOps, or DataOps teams using CICD.
  • Federal Experience in Analytics and/or Reporting Tools
  • Prior experience in AI / ML techniques
