GDIT has an exciting JOB OPPORTUNITY and is seeking a Senior Database Architect to support a federal agency to develop Enterprise Data Strategy and supporting Enterprise Data Governance framework.
Requires at least ten years of general experience in information systems, including eight years of specialized experience providing state-of-the-art solutions in information systems technology with a proven track record in the area of Enterprise Data Architecture. Must have experience with the Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF), EA Reference Models.
Provides expert, independent services and leadership in specialized technical areas. Provides expertise on an as-needed basis to all task assignments. Provides expert advice and assistance in state-of-the-art software/hardware. Coordinates with contractor management and Government personnel to ensure that the problem has been properly defined and that the solution will satisfy the Government’s requirement. Specific responsibilities include the following:
Establish a data management framework and tools to support an enterprise data governance model that ensures the security, reliability, availability and integrity of agency data
Develop the project management operations (PMO) and governance structure to support the agency Data Council; this includes assisting the agency to evaluate current data collection and management efforts and implement changes as appropriate
Develop the Enterprise Data Strategy to integrate data governance policies and practices; improve data collection, quality, timeliness, and interoperability; and increase internal data analysis capacity
Establish and direct the maintenance of a Data Reference Model (DRM) to enable information sharing and reuse via the standard description and discovery of common data and the promotion of uniform data management practices
Standardize the use of metadata along with a common data lexicon for the agency
Work with stakeholders to develop data use cases by identifying current data collection, analysis, and sharing capabilities and shortcomings and identify recommendations as appropriate
Develop a draft implementation plan for the strategy
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – a must
Experience in collaborating with senior level management
MA/MS (or equivalent experience), 20+ years of experience

The likely salary range for this position is $151,184 - $257,012, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
