GDIT is searching for a Windows systems administrator to support a new program. This candidate will be responsible for being the lead system administrator for our Microsoft WSUS infrastructure that supports our patching and cyber security compliance for deploying a Windows 10 OS desktop and peripherals to end-user customers. This candidate will have 3 to 5 years’ experience in Windows system administration experience and one year of “hands on” WSUS administration. Backup roles will include supporting the administration of McAfee ePO, ServiceNow and Splunk infrastructure in addition to building, configuring and testing equipment for fulfillment of customer orders.
The successful candidate must have an entrepreneurial mentality with the desire to scale out to an enterprise level environment along with a track record that demonstrates the ability to deliver value added recommendations aligned with a business model resembling a startup company. The candidate will also support end-user customers via telephone.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs systems administration of desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks.
Desktop system management responsibilities involving Remote Administration tool.
Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance support for current and emerging technology IT systems
Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
Provides Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problem
Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
Proactively, reactively and remotely monitor assigned MRN enterprise wide servers, applications, systems and databases
Take corrective action by remotely identifying and escalating issues through monitoring, to ensure the operability of all servers and all systems
Manages Windows operating systems, VMware, and SQL Servers
Isolates and resolves hardware and software problems involving the applications, the operating system, the hardware, the communications infrastructure, or any combination thereof or escalate to next level solver group.
Troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configure network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
Performs proactive monitoring of system logs, services, scripts, and applications on servers’ systems, storage arrays for internal and customer-facing applications
Provides support to crisis events
Provides user support for system and application issues
Provides advice and training to end-users
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
Creates/maintains documentation for assigned process/technical area
Participates in special projects as required
Desirable Skills / Experience:
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network systems administration and support
Knowledge and experience with ServiceNow, VMware, Windows Server 2012R2, 2016 and 2019 configuration, administration and Windows 10 OS
Administration experience with Microsoft products such as: Data Protection Manager (DPM), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Exchange or Exchange Online
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the capability to make decisions and adapt to change.
Ownership and execution of incident management and system maintenance.
ServiceNow Certified System Administrator
Experienced in AWS, AZURE, Google Cloud Services, or other Cloud environments
BS in computer science, computer systems, electrical, mechanical, network or other engineering disciplines, mathematics or statistics and at least 3 years of specialized IT experience in Microsoft Windows administration
Desired Computing Environment certification: Windows Server 2016, MSCA, MCP, VCP5, etc.
Candidates must be willing and able to attain a Polygraph.
