GDIT’s Military Health Team is HIRING a Research Scientist in support of the Defense & Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) located at the Wounded Warrior Center at Ft. Carson Military Base in Ft. Carson, Colorado.
As the traumatic brain injury (TBI) Pathway of Care manager within the Military Health System (MHS), the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center promotes state-of-the-science care from point-of-injury to reintegration for service members, veterans, and their families to prevent and mitigate consequences of mild to severe TBI.
The Research Scientist will assist with formulating experimental hypotheses and designs experimental and other study protocols. S/he will assist in developing necessary new technologies and protocols, processes and interprets experimental and other study data. S/he will coordinate with other technical and professional staff, prepares documents, written reports, manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, and completes other projects as needed.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Responsible for leading and/or assisting the development of research/clinical investigations/studies projects, and carrying out those projects.
May serve as Principal Investigator.
Investigating the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific methodologies and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems.
Assists with formulating experimental hypotheses and designs experimental and other study protocols.
Assists with applying statistical techniques to analyze and interpret study data.
Assists in developing necessary new technologies and protocols, processes and interprets experimental and other study data, coordinates with other technical and professional staff.
Prepares documents, written reports, manuscripts for submission to scientific journals, and completes other projects as needed.
Provides collaborative assistance to other Research Scientists.
What You’ll Need (required):
Ph.D. or MD in related scientific discipline.
6+ years of research experience required, including experience-conducting research with traumatic brain injury or similar clinical samples.
Knowledge of applicable complex scientific procedures and techniques.
Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures.
Ability to work independently and supervise others working for this contract.
US Citizenship with the ability to pass a T3/ NACLC security investigation.
What Would Be Even Better (highly preferred):
Prior experience within the DoD/VA healthcare system(s) strongly preferred.
Familiarity with basic and advanced statistical analysis techniques
Familiarity with vestibular research and/or psychophysiological data processing
