GDIT has an exciting opportunity available for a Wireless Engineer at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. This position requires someone with a current and active TS clearance. This position requires individuals who are self-motivated, suitably experienced, qualified, and able to follow instructions clearly but also able to make command decisions on the spot in order to achieve the aims of the organization. Responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio frequency, and/or data communications networks.

Must be fully knowledgeable and capable of providing operation and maintenance support for the PLWN wireless infrastructure to include managing the Information Assurance requirements as outlined by USARPAC G6 Cyber Security Program Management Office (CSPMO) standard operating procedures.  The contractor must perform all the activities necessary to sustain user access and maintain wireless services included but is not limited to the following activities:

Technical Knowledge:

Must have working knowledge of the integrated hardware and software across each PLWN enclave to include:

  • Contractor shall have a minimum of 7 years of Networking Experience, preferably with Cisco equipment.
  • Contractor shall have a minimum of 5 years of Cisco Wireless Networking experience.
  • Contractor shall have Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Wireless Certification or higher.
  • Contractor shall maintain Certified Wireless Network Associate (CWNA) Certification or higher as DoD 8570 Computer Environment (CE) Certification Requirement.
  • Contractor must maintain the minimum IA Workforce Baseline Qualifications outlined in DOD 8570 for IAT Level III.
  • Contractor shall use Microsoft Visio for laying out network technical designs for LAN, WAN and WLANs.
  • Contractor shall provide systems engineering support in the design, development, production, testing, accreditation and operation of military wireless communications systems.
  • Contractor shall communicate in writing, to develop policies, in-depth technical studies, develop plans or specifications necessary for carrying out recommendations for proposed network performance.
  • Contractor shall communicate orally in preparing and conducting technical briefings, organizing and conducting training sessions for staff and customers and commercial vendors, to coordinate systems design and development.
  • Contractor shall have the knowledge required to perform network management and help desk duties on the PLWN to include ability to troubleshoot and resolve component and performance problems as they occur.
  • Contractor shall have the ability to install LAN/WAN/WLAN hardware and software, configure, test, and interface with other peripheral components and computer systems.
  • Contractor shall have knowledge of the network performance (traffic analysis) fault isolation, and protocols to provide a complete end-to-end systems performance monitoring/analysis and change management application reviewing existing operations, (e.g., switches, routers, access points, Cisco VPN, Cisco firewalls, remote access services, wireless encryption solutions, wireless infrastructure based 802.11 network.
  • Contractor shall have knowledge of network management platforms like including but not limited to Cisco Prime and CA Spectrum.
