Join General Dynamics IT and be a part of the team of men and women that solve some of the world’s most complex technical challenges. The All Weapon Information Systems (AWIS) team is looking for a Project Manager to join them at the Naval Air Warfare Center located at the Navy Base in China Lake, CA.

The D433000 Division provides Information Technology (IT) services for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Logistics competency. The D433000 Division manages the All Weapons Information System (AWIS) is the NAVAIRIT system providing complete life cycle tracking and IT management system for many naval ordnance systems. The system provides comprehensive and timely information for the development, production, maintenance, follow-on engineering, acquisition, and logistics to support Fleet readiness and help sustain sophisticated weapons systems and associated support equipment. AWIS is designated as the centralized database for NAVAIR ordnance data and is currently comprised of numerous interrelated applications. AWIS consists of approximately 40 active modules, which facilitate business processes for approximately 7,000 users.

China Lake is located midway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas and is a comfortable drive to the Mountains and skiing in the North and San Diego to the South. The beaches of L.A. aren’t far away either so you’ll have the best of all worlds!

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance and enhancement of multiple web applications under the AWIS umbrella.

As the Project Manager, you will:

  • Establish and maintain a Project Plan (scope, schedule, resources, budget, etc.)
  • Develop, manage, and maintain project schedules in Microsoft Project
  • Communicate project tasking and expectations to project team
  • Communicate project status to government management on a regular basis
  • Manage work execution to the established budget (hours), schedule and priority for assigned projects
  • Consider availability and technical skills to ensure effective resource assignment
  • Monitor the workloads of project team members and collaborate with GDIT Program Manager, and other Project Managers on resource assignment issues
  • Monitor resource skills and communicate gaps to the GDIT Program Manager
  • Ensure Project Repositories are kept in sync and adhere to AWIS Configuration Management Policies and procedures.
  • Compile estimates for configuration changes
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance (QA) in verifying successful Production (PROD) deployments
  • Coordinate and facilitate project team meetings
  • Develop and distribute meeting agendas and meeting minutes
  • Establish and maintain an Action Tracker per project
  • Perform risk management
  • Perform issue resolution
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards and review project deliverables.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of experience managing software projects.
  • Depth of knowledge of system development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile Scrum, Kanban, etc)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project Professional
  • Secret clearance
