Our work depends on a Cerner Test Engineer joining our team to support Federal EHR HIT Modernization program activities. This a remoted-based role.  Candidate must live in the U.S.

At GDIT, we put our people first. As a Cerner Test Engineer supporting Electronic Health Record (EHR) modernization program, you will be trusted to manage, and execute tasks related to the creation of the test strategy, test design, development and prioritization of test cases, test scripts, and test data and leadership and management of the testing team. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Facilitate testing across overall project including Testing Strategy, Testing deliverables (Test Plans, Test Execution, Test Reports etc)
  • Help development of a Master Test Plan that will document processes associated with test design, test traceability, test execution (e.g., white box, black box) and the tools used for a large and complex, COTS implementation effort
  • Design, develop, evaluate, prioritize and update test scenarios, test plans and test procedures as necessary
  • Coordinate testing activities among multiple stakeholders for various testing activities on the program.
  • Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to understand product specifics and create corresponding test strategies
  • Develop, implement, and report status for system test cases for testing. Analyze test cases and provide regular progress reports.
  • Create documentation for tracking, prioritization and resolution of issues detected while testing
  • Serve as subject matter specialist providing testing know-how for the support of user requirements of complex to highly complex software/hardware applications.
  • Develop executable test procedures for interface testing, device integration, data migration testing, regression testing, and other areas as required by the project.
  • Create testing estimates, define metrics to track completion phase, defect reports, defect prevention, development efficiency and quality
  • Write detailed test cases with expected results for various scenarios including positive and negative testing
  • Execute testing on both frontend systems and backend systems (Interfaces, cronjobs, etc)

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline with more than 2 years of experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in developing test strategies, plans, and scripts
  • Experience in backend and frontend testing including interface testing and data migration testing
  • Experience with Cerner EHR or equivalent EHR product implementations
  • Understanding of testing and evaluation of IT projects in the Federal government
  • The successful candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the year, at times if needed.

    Preferred:

    • Understanding of testing and evaluation of IT projects in the Federal government, including familiarity with the Enterprise Project Lifecycle (EPLC).  
    • Experience with a broad range of tools to include ALM, Rational Quality Manager, Jira and Version One
    • Experience with Cerner device integration testing
    • Must be able to analyze requirements for testability, review technical documentation to understand project architecture, and ensure traceability between various testing artifacts
    • Experience with integration testing and verifying system/component log files for errors and warnings
    • Experience with HL7 Interface Standards (Version 2.x/Version 3.x/FHIR) including a good understanding and experience in design and implementation of testing artifacts for interface testing where HL7 was the primary standard being used.
    • Ability to examine and verify data transfer between components
    • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple tasks if necessary, handle changing priorities, be detail oriented, and able to work independently
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills

    SECURITY CLEARANCE LEVEL:

    • Work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.  / Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Level 5 clearance.

    Salary and Benefit Information

    The likely salary range for this position is $60,549 - $101,109, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
