As a member of the Organizational Development team, the Organizational Development Director will design and implement organizational development activities aligned to our core areas of focus: Strategy, Leadership and Culture. The OD team is a Center of Excellence in Human Resources aimed at driving initiatives that build GDIT’s organizational capabilities and build upon the foundation of our strategic imperatives and culture. We are consultative thought partners, serving as trusted advisors to senior leadership and working across the enterprise to design and implement programs consistent with our organizational priorities and to impact our business results.
Our ideal candidate will have direct experience serving as a consultant to C-suite leaders, with exceptional client service acumen and stakeholder management skills. This team member should also have a demonstrated passion for improving individual/organizational performance and experience in leading initiatives related to operationalizing strategy, developing leaders, and driving team performance. This Director will also need to provide strong facilitation capabilities to foster collaboration and support internal teams.
Facilitate high engagement workshops with key stakeholders to codify annual enterprise strategic elements and support OD specific constructs
Support enterprise strategy development efforts and follow-on efforts to strengthen and reinforce strategic imperatives and priorities
Identify key organizational needs by developing trusted relationships with leaders across the enterprise and co-create solutions and approaches to help address gaps
Lead efforts on a GDIT team framework as a team construct to help guide team leads and to reflect Self, Teams and Enterprise; collaborate across the OD and HR teams for alignment and inputs
Design and facilitate team sessions for the purpose of leadership alignment, strategy alignment, behavior shifts. Diagnose the challenges a team may be having and provide an approach to support them
Provide organizational development expertise and capabilities in the areas of coaching, employee engagement, team effectiveness, and culture building
Support succession management efforts, as needed, with our senior leaders to provide insight and identify development opportunities
Work closely with leaders and HR Business Partners to seek inputs, co-create and get aligned around the OD Center of Excellence services as provided to internal stakeholders
Interact with and build trustworthy relationships with the Executive Leadership team, senior leaders of the organization and HR colleagues
Apply key metrics to measure program success and effectiveness
Infuse best practices and research to enhance leadership experiences, team coaching and development
Contribute as needed to the OD team on other activities including team alignment sessions, culture focus groups and surveys and diversity and inclusion efforts,
Develop team members to deepen their capabilities, to be consultative and knowledgeable in delivering our team services to internal stakeholders
This position allows for telework in the Mid-Atlantic region with the understanding that in-person meetings or facilitation is required in the Norther Virginia locations.
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Human Resources, or related field and 15+ years of relevant progressive professional experience
5-7 years of experience in organizational development or talent management that require different approaches to address complexity, scale, size and speed
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
coaching and delivering 360 assessment feedback
executing succession planning activities
change management initiatives
team effectiveness approaches
strategy development support
Ability to create effective PowerPoint slides to support meeting design
Strong motivational and high impact facilitation skills
Strong skills in presenting ideas, approaches and processes
Ability to navigate through ambiguity and constant change
Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to synthesize ideas and approaches in a compelling narrative
Highly collaborative work style and open to new ideas
Agility in seeing the big picture while focusing on details; able to see situations contextually in order to provide recommended course of action
Advanced analytical skills and critical thinking
High degree of self and social awareness and management
Strong judgment and discretion
Superior organization skills

Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field
Certified in one or more assessment tools (i.e., Myers Briggs, DISC, The Leadership Circle
