At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Truck Driver, you will be trusted to work independently and deliver agile solutions.  In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Maintaining good communication with the team
  • Providing dedicated local and long-distance truck transportation for sponsor’s organizational cargo
  • Responsible to perform sponsor’s office moves
  • Will interact with sponsor facilities within the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA), and across the continental USA, as well as outside the USA
  • Truck drivers will typically interact with other MATS warehouseman and other sponsor office warehouseman, as well as sponsor administrators
  • Fast-paced operation with a high daily cargo volume of various size, weight, and configuration
  • MATS is comprised of a mix of approximately 20 employees working at multiple sponsor locations within the WMA
  • Drivers will perform long-haul trucking within the continental USA that typically range from same day out/same day in, to overnight, to one week or two weeks.  Two-person team drivers operate on a non-stop basis (one sleeps/one drives) when driving outside the WMA
  • MATS truck drivers are responsible for loading, driving, and unloading trucks throughout the continental United States
  • Will work independently for short delivery routes and with a driving partner for long-haul deliveries
  • Drivers will be expected to operate on roads ranging from interstate highways to underdeveloped, unpaved roads and drive in environments ranging from urban locations to remote sites


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS Diploma
  • 4 years of experience
  • Must be able to obtain TS/SCI w/polygraph
  • Must have demonstrated ability to safely operate all vehicles for which they are licensed, which includes material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Drivers must have the ability to lift items weighing up to 70 lbs and assist with team lifts of heavier items
  • Must be able to use computers
  • MATS drivers typically work from 6:00am to 3:00pm while performing tasks within the WMA.  When driving outside the WMA, drivers will work various shifts around the clock as necessary to perform the mission
  • Drivers must meet Department of Transportation and sponsor medical requirements
  • Drivers at the developmental level must hold and continue to hold a valid (Class B) Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a Department of Transportation (DoT) medical permit/authorization, as well as meet any sponsor medical requirement
  • Drivers must obtain OSHA compliant forklift training from prime contractor
  • Drivers must take sponsor’s system training as required
  • MATS drivers must continuously demonstrate safe driving and material handling skills, and adhere to local, state and federal driving regulations
  • Must be proficient in the use of general material handling equipment to include pallet jacks, hand-trucks, J-Bars, forklifts, crow bars, stretch wrap dispensers (manual and automatic) and take dispensers, and truck related equipment and GPS and other satellite transponders
