GDIT's Military Health Team is hiring a Research Project Facilitator to support the 59th Medical Wing (59 MDW) located at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The 59th Medical Wing Science and Technology (ST) office advises and conducts clinical and translational research on matters pertaining to the medical aspects of the Air Expeditionary Force and the health of Air Force (AF) personnel and beneficiaries. In order to support the required research, ST offices conduct translational research in the areas of emergency medical care, combat casualty care, force health protection, restorative medicine, clinical and rehabilitative medicine and specialty centers.

The Research Project Facilitator will have responsibility for planning, organizing, and ensuring all work performed on a research protocol, project or program meets the highest professional standards. They will be responsible for ensuring the project schedules, and performance measures are met and services are provided in a timely and cost effective manner. They will maintain customer liaison and direction, preparing and adhering to cost budgets, approving work schedules, reviewing work, resolving discrepancies, and communicating policies, purposes and goals of the effort to research team. May serve as an assistant investigator.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Establishes and maintains a system to manage, validate, document, and present costs, deliverables, sources and schedules for individual projects.
  • Obtains approval for all schedules from PI(s) and managers.
  • Attends/assists at working groups, seminars, conferences on-site staff meetings and required and prepare reports and briefings. Submits research project reports to director(s) and investigator(s), or other team members as required.
  • Remains accessible and accountable at all times during work hours and collects messages at least twice daily. Returns telephone messages within 24 hours of receipt, and E-mails messages in a timely manner as appropriate, usually no more than 24 hours after receipt.
  • Prepares/provides input/presents cost, schedules and performance parameters for assigned protocols and projects, oversee preparation of same for assigned staff, investigators and managers, prepare and /or provide input to program reports, protocol reports/plans, manuscripts, presentation materials, and miscellaneous research reports.
  • Provides services with the scope of responsibilities defined above with the same degree of care, skill and diligence as is ordinarily required by a Project manager under similar circumstances to include senior/expert research consultation, support, and customer services.
  • Conducts the Project in accordance with appropriate Task Order, the Protocol, applicable regulations of the FDA, DoD, AF, and all other regulations of local, state or federal authorities, and all conditions of approval imposed by the Institutional Review Board or the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
  • Handles all proprietary, programmatic, budgetary, source selection sensitive, and researches information and data in accordance with government direction and in accordance with all laws, rules, regulations and lawful orders of any governmental authority.
  • Collects, sorts, and files all project/protocol forms and documentation in accordance with Air Force, DoD instructions and local procedures.
  • Assists with preparation of agency collaboration agreements (Memorandum of Understanding/Agreements, etc.), technology transfer documentation and associated agreements in coordination with the investigator and other staff.
  • Attends meetings or conferences as required to support research.
  • Maintains all records relating to projects, protocols and studies accurately and completely meeting all regulatory requirements.

 

What You'll Need (required):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business management, biological, chemical or physical sciences, engineering, technical, or operational area and 5+ years of clinical research/project management experience OR Master's degree in business management, engineering, scientific or healthcare discipline or operational area AND 2+ years of clinical research/project management experience
  • Experience in health care or U.S. Military health system.
  • Experience with medical terminology and common medical abbreviations.
  • Intermediate+ experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint.
  • Completes all required training associated with the scope of responsibilities defined above, including web-based laboratory Animal Training Association (LATA) and Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program in Protection of Human Research Subjects.
  • Ability to obtain a basic Life Support (BLS) certification shortly after hire.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a NACLC (T3) background investigation.
