The Network Cabling Technician works on a team supporting cabling, equipment and C4ISR system installations. This position pulls, terminates and dresses Category 5/6 and Fiber Optic cabling. Installs and documents IT equipment, cable runs, cable ladders and supporting systems. The Network Cabling Technician will install cabling, install and build copper and fiber connectors and perform QA testing on all cables.  The Network Cabling Technician will also terminate junction boxes for low data rate twisted pair cables.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to all phases of the infrastructure installation or upgrade
  • Pulling and dressing of fiber optic and copper cables in.
  • Installation of racks and all peripheral equipment
  • Rack and stacking of equipment in racks and credenzas. Including the lacing of equipment in the rack or credenzas.
  • Termination of copper cable up to CAT6A and SM/MM Fiber single strand to MPO/MTP
  • Solving issues related to cables and networks
  • Testing and recording of all cables

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Active and Current DoD Secret Level Security Clearance
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience
  • Work will be performed onboard US Navy ship’s and at shipyards..
  • Work assignments vary based on client requirements.
  • Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot, dusty, cold, icy, and windy climates.
  • May require climbing, working at heights and in small, confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets and server racks. Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel or crouch for long periods of time.
  • Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperature than standard office environmental conditions.
  • Lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Copper and Fiber Termination equipment, Copper and Fiber Test Equipment
  • Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment.
  • Must be US Citizen
