The Financial Analyst will support the NASA Shared Services Center with all aspects of financial data analysis and reporting related to NASA’s Financial Statement of Transactions. Includes Daily reconciliation of all cash transactions recorded in Treasury and NASA’s financial accounting system. Duties also include, monthly reporting of NASA’s Statement of Transaction reclassification to Treasury.
Downloads daily reports from Treasury IPAC and GWA accounting systems that includes cash receivables and payables data.
Downloads daily reports from NASA’s financial accounting system that is needed to perform the daily Cash Reconciliation.
Completes Cash reconciliation daily of the data maintained in NASA’s financial accounting system with the data maintained by the U.S. Department of Treasury.
Prepares and reports month the Statement of Transactions (FMS 224) and associated reports to Treasury according to the accounting policy and related management requirements necessary to establish financial control over NASAs FBWT and other cash resources not part of the FBWT
Validates the receivable cash SGL accounts reporting in NASA’s financial accounting system to determine if recorded accurately and timely per NASA policies and procedures
Validates the payable cash SGL accounts reporting in NASA’s financial accounting system to determine if recorded accurately and timely per NASA policies and procedures
Identify and research daily cash transactions to establish a FBWT Differences report. Report is posted to the web daily for each center to review.
Understands NASA’s Treasury Accounting symbols (TAS) and associated Business Event Type Codes (BETC) related to all Fund Balance with Treasury transactions.
Performs bi-weekly reconciliations for the cash associated with Labor/Department of Interior Labor Cost Voucher to NASA’s financial accounting system
Analyzes transactions posted in NASA’s accounting system that are not part of a Treasury transaction to ensure data is reconciled and recorded per NASA’s policies and procedures.
Prepares monthly continuous monitoring reports by collecting and analyzing information and data to provide explanations of exceptions and resolutions
Supports internal and external audits/reviews by compiling documents/data, reconciling data, and responding to requests for information related to Fund Balance with Treasury.
Hold monthly meetings with NASA Center’s to discuss data needed to resolve differences between NASA and Treasury
Performs escalation of all outstanding FBWT differences.
Provides customer support when needed to locate or resolve cash related issues.
Updates and maintains accurate work instructions in the FBWT Service Delivery Guide
Must be able to work independently, making decisions and maintaining confidentiality.
Must have professional oral and written communication skills.
Works closely with FBWT Supervisor and IT on process improvements and automation projects including writing requirements and developing process flows. These projects are to improve processes and create efficiencies, improve quality or enhance customer service.
Manages personnel in the absence of the Fund Balance with Treasury Supervisor
