Created after 9-11-2001, the Department of Homeland Security  consolidated numerous agencies' data centers for central management. General Dynamics Information Technology plays a key role in the Department's IT integration strategy through its Data Center-1 program. GDIT's DC-1 program is committed to delivering an efficient, responsive, and mature data center operation through excellence in service delivery, performance, and continual service improvement.

  • Provides technical support to information system program and related procedures of classified operations to ensure compliance with customer and/or government security policies and procedures.
  • Provides technical service in support for the development and documentation requried of the approval process for the accreditation of information systems processing classified or nataional security information.
  • Assists to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable policy and procedures.
  • Participates in investigating and resolving matters of significance related to security policy and procedures to ensure compliance with government and/or industry standards and customer specific requirements.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and maintains security systems and procedures to safeguard internal information systems and databases.
  • Assists in performing inspections based on system security requirements to ensure security systems are in compliance with established standards.
  •  Reviews computer logs and messages to identify possible security violations and breaches; assist with the preparation of reports to report intrusions.
  • Assists in the monitoring of firewalls acress assigned area.
  • May assist in implementing firewalls and other network security devices.
  •  Performs complex analysis and investigates and reslove system problem trends and issues.
  • Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. AA/AS is desired
  • Completion of a 2 year technical training program in computer field or equivalent
  • Five or more years of technical information systems security experience
  • Experience working with information and network security practices
  • Experience working with security software and hardware
  • Experience working with operating systems
  • Experience working with computer desktop packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Experience working with computer programming and operations
  • Experience working with security architecture
