GDIT has a Field Technician-VTC opportunity in Austin, TX. Must have a current and active Secret clearance.

Requirements:

Fabricates, installs, maintains, and repairs electronic, mechanical, and/or other types of components and equipment.  Travels to various sites to perform repairs and troubleshoot problems. Prepares incident/performance reports and trainings for customers. Maintains smooth operation of local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN). Plans, evaluates, designs, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data, video and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, Cisco switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, Windows servers 2008 / 2012. WIN 7, WIN 10 OS, and SQL etc. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that includes selection and recommendation of hardware and software packages.

  • Performs a variety of technical tasks and provides site support.
  • Modifies, moves, and installs a range of new equipment.
  • Troubleshoots a variety of hardware and software problems and interconnectivity issues.
  • Performs a variety of integrity testing and interviews customers to gather information about problems.
  • Prepares and presents a variety of incident/performance reports to the customer and to the service delivery manager.
  • Provides advice and a variety of onsite training for customer support personnel.
  • May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
  • May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AA/AS (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of experience
  • Must have a current and active Secret clearance.
