GDIT is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to support the Joint Education and Training System (JETS) Program. This person will be responsible for editing, proofreading and providing writing support on technical and non-technical documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications and other artifacts and deliverables in support of JETS. Candidate will support all technical writing activities performed by GDIT personnel and subcontractors, to satisfy all program requirements.
Typical duties include:
Writing, and editing project deliverables which are comprised of briefings, diagrams, DoDAF views, process workflows, guides, plans, creating illustrations, tables and figures and others essential elements associated with required deliverables
Ensuring deliverables meet editorial and government specifications
Adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style
Assess, analyze, write, edit and manage end-user training and documentation for technology implementations and updates
Develop and cultivate positive working relationships with team members
Develops key trusted relationships with customers, stakeholders to conduct pre delivery reviews
Assures quality of products and deliverables, including participating in reviews, audits, and milestone events
Develops, reviews, and approves deliverables
Prepares and provides various briefings, reports and technical reviews to senior management as requested and milestone events related to project execution
Ensures compliance with relevant corporate and government policies and standards.
Participates in special projects as required.
Develops, maintains, and implements standards to enhance deliverable development efforts across the team
Provides productive feedback of content to guide performance across all functional activities performed on the Program.
Reviewing and compiling references related to governance, policy, procedures, standards and other essential literature relevant to ensuring competent execution and performance of services
Working efficiently and collaboratively with Technical SMEs, while also creating content and meeting deadlines independently
Other documentation such as Online Help guides, Content-Sensitive Help guides and/or User guides as directed by client
Ensuring Section 508 compliance for all documents.
Compiling data elements to assist in the production of daily, weekly and monthly status reports for completion of activities
5+ years of technical writing experience
Experience managing technical writing functions and performance outcomes for large enterprise projects
BA/BS (or equivalent experience)
STEM degree is highly desired
The ideal candidate shall have at least one of the following certifications or industry equivalents;
Basic Certificate in Technical Writing (90 hours)
Certificate in Writing for Current Technical Writers, Editors & Designers (90 hours)
Technical Communication Industry Certificate - Mastery Level (160 hours)
Certificate in Professional Technical Communication (140 hours)
Certificate Course in Structured Writing for Technical Documentation (30 hours)
Writers at Work Certificate Program (40 hours)
