XVIII ABC Hub and Spoke MTCs provide individual and collective training on Army Mission Command Systems, using a variety of tools and Army fielded systems. These systems are used to support Small Unit Training: Squads through Company, Medium Unit Training: Battalion through Brigade, and Large Unit Training: Divisions and Corps in training environments ranging from Stability and Support Operations (SSO) through Unified Land Operations (ULO). 


HOW the Systems Engineer WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: 

Analyzes voice, video, radiofrequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices. Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments.  Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.  Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.  May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.  May perform network administration duties. Monitors system effectiveness in satisfying user needs. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel and may have supervisory responsibilities. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Participates in special projects as required. 


Requires advanced knowledge of software engineering principles, methods, and techniques. Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment. Professional Certification in one or more specific technologies may be required to meet DoD Approved RMF Baseline Certifications. Must meet IAT baseline certifications. 


  • Accomplishes results through lower-level subordinate supervisors or through experienced exempt employees who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.  Functions as advisor to a unit regarding tasks, projects, and operations.   


  • Supervises and directs other system analysts in the planning, preparation, and delivery of Mission Command training technical support. Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. Provides analytical and technical support to projects involving training, tactical/operational documentation or other efforts requiring technical operations expertise.   

  • The supervisor’s primary duties consist of performing manual work directly related to the general business operations of the MTC Director as detailed in the statement of work (SOW) and the MTC Director’s customers, military units.  Performance of these duties requires supervisors to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance within the framework of the approved Event Life Cycle Management (ELM) process.  




  • Education/Experience: 2+ Years, with related BS/BA in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field with concentration in computer-based technology. 

  • DoD Certification and Training Requirements:  Security+

  • Baseline Certification IAW DoD 8570.01-m required for hire. 

  • Technical Category and Level: IAM-I 

  • Security Clearance: Current SECRET required or ability to obtain immediately after starting.

  • Location: Fort Drum MTC. Normal work schedule is 0730-1630, may require night or weekend work shifts depending on specific training event requirements. 

  • Travel: May require occasional travel (less than 10%)
