Minimum of ten years’ experience and detailed technical and engineering knowledge of Secure Communications systems, with no less than five years’ experience working with Defense Red Switch Network(DRSN)
Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Plans, evaluates, designs, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.
Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.
May design network or portion of network that includes selection and recommendation of hardware and software packages.
Evaluates options to enhance efficiency of systems through modifications and applications of evolutionary technology.
Candidate will advise on a wide spectrum of emergency telecommunication systems to include requirements analysis, capability assessment, acquisition management, testing and evaluation, and operational implementation.
Candidate should be well-versed on current and future capabilities that may offer expedient and secure options to evolve legacy systems with the intent of improving overall mission assurance and viability.
Ability to procure, install, test, maintain, and repair a variety of telecommunication systems (i.e., mobile and fixed telephone, satellite and tandem-based networks), equipment, cabling and other related peripherals with minimal supervision and guidance.
Troubleshoots degraded telecommunication issues using applicable diagnostic equipment and restores systems to operational condition
Liaises with commercial vendors and mission partners to order circuits and/or equipment as required
Ability to recommend and perform engineering assistance and system configurations for a variety of telecommunication platforms
Ability to instruct new users of secure telecommunications equipment and services
ADDT'L QUALIFICATIONS: Position is designated mission-essential and candidate must be available for periodic recalls and extended CONUS assignments. Willingness and ability to travel (10-40%) within the Continental United States. Some work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing/walking over rough or uneven surfaces, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and recurring lifting of moderately heavy equipment. Candidate must possess a current TS/SCI and be willing to take a Counterintelligence polygraph if requested.
