Job Description

Integration Test Engineer

GDIT is looking for two (2) Integration Test Engineers to support our customer at Point Mugu, CA, The Joint Electronic Attack and Compatibility Office (JEACO) of the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division (NAWC-WD).  The software development work is for the Intrepid Tiger II (IT II) Family of Systems (FoS) Electronic Warfare (EW) systems that currently address communication threats.  The JEACO IT II FoS systems provide adaptable, distributed and networked electronic warfare capability for fixed wing, rotary wing, and tiltrotor wing USMC aircraft.  A new IT II FoS variant is in development that will address radar threats, and another future planned variant will be flown on an UAS aircraft.

Intrepid Tiger II was the first deployed weapon system that was integrated with the EW Services Architecture (EWSA). The EWSA is a services-oriented architecture that enables the system to be dynamically controlled and re-tasked real time through a secure, tactical radio network. It provides the architecture framework and control interface enabling a common command and control and planning capability.

JEACO follows a tailored Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) development process.  JEACO also utilizes the Atlassian tool set (Jira and Confluence) and Microsoft Teams to plan and track tasking and enhance team collaboration.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Interface with management, various engineering disciplines (software, electrical, mechanical, RF, and systems), logistics, inventory, production technicians, outside vendors, and military customers.

  • Support creation or maintenance of required process/procedure or other acquisition or certification documentation.

  • Review, read, and understand military EW requirements, and how to conduct tests to validate those requirements.

  • Operate and exercise Intrepid Tiger II systems as required for testing.

  • Calibrate and test various systems, components, and applications as required.

  • Redline Intrepid Tiger II user manuals based on observed IT II EW system operation in the lab

Requirements:

  • Secret clearance required.  (For a qualified candidate who does not already hold a secret or above clearance, test support of the Navy JEACO Customer (and therefore the start of employment) cannot start until a final Secret clearance is obtained.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences or related STEM discipline and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (test engineering position), or High School diploma with a minimum of 5 years of military EW operational experience (specifically EW trained and operational experience) (test technician position).

  • Ability to learn how the IT II EW systems operate and exercise these systems safely.

  • Ability to document and update test procedures.

  • Ability to document test results and issues discovered.

  • Ability to work independently once trained, in a self-directed manner.

  • Ability to redline IT II user manuals based on observed IT II EW system operation in the lab.

  • Ability to work well with others.  You will be required to work with management, various engineering disciplines (software, electrical, mechanical, RF, and systems), logistics, inventory, production technicians, outside vendors, and military customers.

  • Ability to read and understand military EW requirements, and how to conduct tests to validate those requirements.

  • Ability (not experience) to operate signal generators and spectrum

  • Availability to work on-site, testing on equipment in the laboratory or possibly in the field.  This is NOT a telework position based on the need to test on equipment located on a military base.

  • Availability to travel occasionally.

  • Willingness to work shift work when required.

Additional, Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior EW testing experience.

  • Military experience operating EW equipment.

  • Laboratory integration test experience.

  • Software or hardware EW engineering development experience.

  • Experience with RF test equipment.

  • Java programming experience.

  • Linux experience.

  • Experience with Agile development methodology

  • Experience with Atlassian tool set (Jira, Confluence)

  • Test experience with Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Warfare Support (ES), and Direction Finding (DF)

  • Experience troubleshooting at the system level (hardware and software)

  • Experience operating signal generators and spectrum analyzers

  • Experience operating Communication equipment

  • Radar equipment experience
