General Dynamics Information Technology has an immediate opportunity for a Technical Writer with the following duties and responsibilities included (but not limited to):

  • This position will be responsible for detailed system documentation, updating of help systems, and creation of Job Aids.
  • Write easy to understand technical specifications, reports and technical documentation in a clear and concise manner as needed.
  • Develop effective communication with technical as well as non-technical staff at all levels (from top management within the organization to the end user in the work environment)
  • Collect, organize, analyze and evaluate technical and non-technical information
  • Transfer technical information into powerful graphs, flowcharts and tables or spread sheets for presentation as needed

This work is currently being performed remotely due to COVID. However you must be able to work onsite at the customer’s facility in Washington, DC when COVID restrictions are lifted.

This program only accepts US citizens and/or Green Card Holders.  The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.


  • Possession of a 4-year degree preferred or equivalent experience


  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in editing technical documents
  • FrameMaker experience and/or knowledge is a definite plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or under general direction
  • Strong understand basic concepts and write technical copy for various types of documents for a program/project of similar complexity
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and other tools/software
