Job Description

Engineer responsible for developing, engineering, and deploying technical solutions within dedicated networks. This individual will work within a small, mission focused team of network and systems engineers to implement technical solutions to challenging collaboration and data protection problems. This role performs the following core functions:

  • Manage day to day operations of system resources by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair
  • Install new/rebuild existing servers of system resources by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair
  • Apply system firmware and update security and other patches
  • Develop new system implementation plans
  • Perform system troubleshooting and work with outside vendors and other support personnel to efficiently resolve issues
  • Establish guidelines for installation/management of standalone workstations
  • Develop and implement infrastructure monitoring strategy
  • Develop procedures for system back up
  • Work closely with development team to deploy new software and improve existing systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer and network security concepts, controls and implementations
  • Extensive experience operating and maintaining Windows Server and Microsoft virtualization technologies
  • Experience with managing engineering projects (i.e., design, build, deploy)
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Powershell, python, etc.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience implementing security best practices within platforms and networks, such as securing virtual machines, hypervisors, virtual desktops, virtual networks, etc.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with basic networking and VPN technologies
  • Practical experience in Linux administration, architecture, networking and optimization
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; demonstrate ability to analyze complex situations, determine course of action and act promptly and effectively when problems arise
  • Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Availability for occasional 24x7 on-call work
  • Experience designing, building, deploying and maintaining sensitive networks preferred
  • Multi-tiered application design & development preferred
  • Working with large data sets to condition data and use analytics and algorithms to rank relevant information within and about the data preferred
  • Experience with programming languages such as Java, C/C++, etc. preferred
  • Experience with One Way Transfer Solutions and data flow management preferred
  • Knowledge with SIEM and security analytical technologies (e.g., Splunk, pcap, Netflow, etc.) preferred
  • Enterprise database platforms such as MSSQL and Oracle DB preferred
  • Hands on experience with and advanced knowledge of networking, routing, switching, sub netting, firewalls, VLANs, ports and protocols preferred
  • Experience with Linux OS, Cisco IOS preferred
  • Experience with one or more of the following: DNS, database or application security, Active Directory, identity management/PKI preferred
  • Experience with hyper-converged infrastructure and storage spaces direct preferred
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, their provisioning and security preferred
  • Ability to assess emerging technologies, determine their impact on corporate systems and incorporate them into technical plans preferred
  • Ability to travel, primarily CONUS preferred
  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, and administering backup systems (Dell or HP Tape libraries) and software (Veritas Backup Exec) preferred
