The Systems Security Architect functions as the critical role between Enterprise Architecture and Application Architecture. Their mission is to support the security organizations of the CIO by bringing enterprise strategies and working reference models to the enterprise security architecture design phase of today’s critical application life cycle.

The qualified candidate will be proficient in developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-wide information security capabilities. Analyzes the enterprise business models and IT systems to determine security risks and risk management considerations. Defines enterprise and system level security requirements. Proposes technical solutions for systems and applications-level security architecture and design. Develops security plans, policies, and procedures.

  • Analysis support to integrate new requirements into established enterprise security architectures
  • Design and Architecture reviews and recommendations
  • Troubleshooting production security and software issues as needed
  • Reviews security related performance issues and recommends solutions
  • Research and Review for Industry best practices and security advances
  • Define and implement standards and patterns for security life cycle, test driven protection schemes and implementation strategies
  • Define strategies and roadmap for enterprise expansion of security capabilities, technologies, and governance
  • Strategy and compliance reviews and recommendations for enterprise to secure architecture frameworks, databases, network, security, web and application architecture resources backup and recovery, disaster recovery, patch management, mobile development, cloud computing, big data, and analytics 


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
  • 10+ years of technical experience
  • 3-5 years of experience working Security Architecture 
  • The ability to work on high-visibility, or mission critical aspects of a given program, and performs all functional duties independently 


  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Environment, Cisco ISE, TrustSec, Application Gateways, Trusted Clean Keyboard, Just in Time Administration, Application Whitelisting, Windows, Linux and JSON Web Tokens

Current USPS COVID policy may allow telecommuting. Once the USPS COVID policy is rescinded, personnel will be required to report to the office on a full-time basis.

Note: The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.
