GDIT is seeking a Systems Administrator/Server Administrator to support US Army Europe as part of our EMITS program team in Hohenfels, Germany.

The Administrator is responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of servers and computers running on multiple operating systems. They are responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of servers and systems as well as maintaining system, service accounts and server documentation. The administrator is responsible for providing guidance on lifecycle management of the hardware components supporting the server environment.

Additional Job Duties

  • Interacts with users, other administrators, and external technical support services

  • Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery

  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources

  • Develops and implements testing strategies and document results

  • Provides advice and training to end-users

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned

  • Participates in special projects as required


  • Top Secret Clearance Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

  • Must obtain ITIL Foundation certification within 90 days of hire.

  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II Compliant. (Security +CE or above).

  • Must obtain a computing environment certification within 6 months of hire.

  • Must obtain German TESA

  • 5 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

  • Strong competency with Microsoft Teams, Office 365, and Power BI

  • File servers and operating system knowledge Experience with VMWare ESXi 6.7 and above.

  • Experience with building servers with applications from research, building to implementation

  • Advanced understanding of Active Directory and AD automation (scripting), creating user accounts, computer objects, etc.

  • Familiar with PowerShell/Scripting knowledge

  • Familiar with SharePoint 2016 and above

  • Strong Windows 10 desktop support skills

  • Strong Windows desktop imaging skills

  • Strong hardware/software troubleshooting skills

  • Intermediate understanding of network troubleshooting

  • Strong writing skills to facilitate development of Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Strong competency with employment of automated IA tools and incorporation of STIGs to facilitate enclave accreditation processes.

  • Position may involve lifting heavy objects, repetitive actions and/or sitting for long periods of time.

  • Experience with Windows Server 2016 and above.

  • Experience with VMware ESXi 6.7+; Active Directory/Group Policy Management; MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit); WSUS server; Exchange; SolarWinds; SQL Databases

  • Additional Preferred Skills: Linux; ACAS; HBSS; SCCM/MECM; XMPP; Familiar with SCSI and Fiber Channel SAN Technology and its implementation & Scripting in Powershell
