The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation [FDIC] mission is to preserve and promote public confidence in the U.S. financial systems by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for up to $250,000; by identifying, monitoring, and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds; and by limiting the effect on the account and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. GDIT provides the day-to-day operational services to FDIC in support of infrastructure, facilities, hardware, software, and systems. GDIT supports operational security, client support/help desk, data center operations, asset management, and systems engineering service areas. The FDIC team provides support to a plethora of cutting-edge technologies across the IT spectra. It has a state of the art development lab to test new functionality, architectures, and equipment. Employees are tasked with developing and deploying innovative solutions to meet business requirements - not managing day to day, same technology operations.
GDIT is currently seeking a Linux administrator in Arlington, VA to join our FDIC Infrastructure team. US Citizenship is required. Background Investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background. This is a 24x7x365 Operations role. Weekends, nights, and holidays are necessary at times.
Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:
Build, configure, secure and deploy Solaris 10 system (global)
Ability to build, configure, secure and deploy Solaris 10 local zones (spare root or whole root zone)
Troubleshoot Solaris 10 issues emanating from hardware and software related and configuration issues
Analyze system performance and manage system resources
Manage Live Upgrade technology, support it in both patching and upgrade efforts
Create content for, and manage an enterprise automation system (BigFix, puppet, satellite...)
Manage configuration control on team tools (manual curation, cvs/git, other...)
Install, configure, and manage Symantec Volume Manager for storage manager and Cluster Service software for system clustering
Build, configure, secure and deploy Red Hat LINUX standalone and Virtual Machine
Troubleshoot LINUX VM emanating from hardware and software related and configuration issues
Work with network administrators to configure and troubleshoot issues emanating from network
Monitor current hardware and infrastructure capacity and usage
Respond to critical alerts from Sys Edge, NetCool, Opsware, etc.
Write shell and PERL scripts to provide automation
Able to perform tasks using command line as well as GUI interface for all relevant tools.
Troubleshoot NetBackup related backup issues as required
Attend daily, weekly, and monthly client meetings as necessary
Ability to provide 24X7x365 operations support
To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications:
Proven Experience with Solaris 10 or Red Hat 5 &6 and/or VCS operating systems in installing, configuring, and maintaining to include storage management, package & patch management via satellite server, and host security.
Ability to debug Solaris 10 and/or Linux 5.3/6.2 and/or VCS 5.[0|1] under time pressure
Ability to work from a Command Line Interface (CLI)
Should be proficient in patching process.
Should be proficient in Veritas/ODS file system
Should be proficient in VMware.
Should be proficient in LINUX running on DELL hardware.
Should have basic knowledge of RAC cluster and troubleshooting.
Proficient oral and written communication skills
Must have good customer service skills
It would be great if you also had:
Knowledge of authentication tools like LDAP and/or CyberArk
