GDIT s military health team is HIRING a Research Material Chemist to support the 59th Medical Wing (MDW), located at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

The 59th Medical Wing Science and Technology (ST) office advises and conducts clinical and translational research on matters pertaining to the medical aspects of the Air Expeditionary Force and the health of Air Force (AF) personnel and beneficiaries. In order to support the required research, ST offices conduct translational research in the areas of emergency medical care, combat casualty care, force health protection, restorative medicine, clinical and rehabilitative medicine and specialty centers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Support Government PIs in the planning and developing processes and proposals that support material and chemistry focused research efforts.
  • Consult with research scientists to design process and application strategies in the development of novel products relating to advancing the fields of tissue engineering, bio-manufacturing, drug-delivery, and advanced diagnostics.
  • Develop new or customize existing chemistry approaches to meet specific project needs.  Provide technical support and analysis for problems relating to appropriate chemical processing and testing procedures.
  • Recommend specific materials and instrumentation as required by research objectives.
  • Conduct independent research efforts (grant proposals) that support Government and programmatic requirements.
  • Prepare and present research findings to internal and external collaborators as well as stakeholders.
  • Plan and guide research technicians in the execution of complex research projects that relates the development of new products and testing methods.

What You’ll Need (required):

  • Doctoral Degree in Materials Chemistry or related fields.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in developing processes, protocols, reports, and proposals related to biomedical research.
