Job Description

GDIT is seeking an experienced Enterprise Hosting Service Delivery Manager (SDM) to support the mission of our customer, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).  As the SDM, you will oversee the delivery of services for our Enterprise Hosting Program responsible for providing services for platform, server, database, application hosting, enterprise storage, and data center management.

In this role, you must be able to simultaneously manage various duties and obligations such as project and team management and day-to-day operations to ensure customer satisfaction while enhancing the caliber of services delivered.  You are comfortable thinking strategically and diving deep into technology; a dynamic and adaptive leader who can identify opportunities and leverage the team to translate them into effective solutions.

** PLEASE NOTE: This position is primarily remote, but you must reside within commuting distance to the client site in Rockville, MD and be able to be onsite as required to meet contractual obligations and project needs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provides day to day team management and oversight of project execution and service delivery for Enterprise Hosting Services
  • Ensures service delivery alignment with program and customer priorities
  • Engages and collaborates with direct reports, the user community and our government leadership to identify new services and capabilities and the resources required for implementation and execution
  • Provides transparent communications on project timelines, resource requirements, risk management, and status reporting across all organizational and technical boundaries
  • Establishes and maintains a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and value-driven service delivery
  • Works closely with direct reports to manage and prioritize backlog, translate customer vision to tasks and service delivery, and validate and accept work prior to delivering to our customer

Required Qualifications and Duties:

  • BS/BA and 8+ years experience or equivalent in IT related discipline
  • 5+ years experience in IT project management, leadership of enterprise IT teams, or development and delivery of professional IT services
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams supporting engineering and operations in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in multiple disciplines and IT roles such as infrastructure, cloud, storage, application development, and operations and engineering
  • Experience supporting and developing IT strategies including introduction of innovative processes, modern IT practices, and emerging technologies (e.g., DevOps, infrastructure as code, microservices)
  • Experience developing project management processes, tools, templates and documentation artifacts
  • Experience prioritizing and supporting multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring effective and timely delivery across organizational boundaries
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum and/or Kanban methodologies
  • Capable of successfully communicating and presenting to senior leadership
  • Must be within commuting distance to Rockville, MD
  • Must be a US Citizen or Greencard holder

Desired Qualifications and duties:

  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and collaborating closely with software development teams
  • Experience supporting an expansive portfolio of shared applications and platforms using COTs, custom code and open source technologies
  • Experience supporting a diverse environment with Windows, Linux variants, and containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) in both cloud and on-premise datacenters
  • Familiarity with principles and practices of IT Information Library (ITIL) & IT Service Management (ITSM)
  • Experience analyzing solutions components, understanding systems integration challenges, and identifying technology gaps in current services that must be resolved to reach future performance targets and functionality requirements in enterprise IT. 
  • Understanding of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity framework and Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) process

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $160,000 - $240,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
