Provide break-fix maintenance and troubleshooting support of NetApp system hardware and applications in the field. Technicians typically function in networked and fiber channel implementations utilizing Unix/Linux or Windows based operating systems, interfacing with OEM software, servers and storage hardware. Applicant must be motivated, self-starter with demonstrated technical problem-solving skills, a strong customer service, focus, and network experience. Employee works from home and dispatches to a variety of customer sites within a geographical area (generally local) to resolve problems. Distance travel to neighboring state is occasionally required.
Assists Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers and OEM Technical Support Engineers (TSE) through on-site and smart-hands support including:
Perform all aspects of field support such as hardware, software, desktop and network maintenance. Resolve technical deficiencies utilizing OEM based action plans, application based testing tools/diagnostics, and sound, systematic troubleshooting principles to meet contractual Service Level Agreement (SLA) timelines.
Will be responsible for a variety of customer sites within a prescribed geographical area.
Interpret customer needs and clarify roles and responsibilities.
Create documentation and post-mortem records of services.
Will be on-call after normal working hours and must have the ability to travel to customer site with minimal notice provided.
Work collaboratively with customers in potentially stressful situations while providing professional/courteous technical expertise.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned via completion of WBTs and/or classroom training.
Candidate Must be a resident of North Carolina
EDUCATION/EQUIVALENT TRAINING REQUIRED:
Associates degree in a related technical discipline or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work experience.
3 – 5 years of related experience supporting information systems operations. Experience with networking and/or storage environments is preferred.
Solid understanding of:
RAID and storage systems
NFS, the Unix remote file sharing protocol
CIFS, the Windows NT remote file sharing protocol
Understanding of system administration and maintenance.
Understanding of networking and network storage principles.
Familiarity with the following is a plus:
Basic understanding of Unix/Linux and Windows (2003 and above) file architecture, configuration, administration, technical support, and related directory/protocol services (LDAP, Active Directory, NIS, DNS)
Multi-pathing software, volume managers, file systems (such as VERITAS), and backup software
Backup and database applications and/or NetApp clustering
Fibre Channel HBA configuration and installation
NAS and/or SAN storage and surrounding infrastructure
Network architectures including the roles of routers and switches
Midrange to enterprise tape libraries
The likely salary range for this position is $70,400 - $105,600, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
