And our work depends on a Systems Engineer Associate joining our team to support eMedNY and NCMMIS programs at the Rensselaer Data Center in Albany NY.

 At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Systems Engineer Associate supporting zseries hardware, multi-LPAR zOS systems operating in a parallel sysplex 4 way date sharing environment, you will be trusted to perform basic problem diagnostics and resolution. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Participate in service restoration teams, disaster recovery exercises, hardware and software upgrades.
  • Interface with CICS, DB2 and Z/OS engineers in support of the application and architecture teams.
  • Working knowledge of Parallel Sysplex, Sysplex Distributer, Distributed Dynamic VIPAs (DDVIPAs), packet tracing, the OBEY command, Netstat and Digital Certificates.
  • Configure and support z/OS Communications Server: TCP/IP, VTAM, CSSMTP, FTP, OSPF Routing, OSA Configurations, Policy Agent (PAGENT) and TN3270.   Also support SSHD and Netview.
  • Work closely with the programs to ensure they attain SLAs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Grad
  • Attend IBM Operating Systems Fundamentals Courses
  • Zero – 1 year of relevant experience
  • Configure and support z/OS Communications Server: TCP/IP, VTAM, CSSMTP, FTP, OSPF Routing, OSA Configurations, Policy Agent (PAGENT) and TN3270.   Also support SSHD and Netview.
  • JCL, TSO, ISPF
  • Rexx and Clists
  • Operating Systems infrastructures 
  • Operating System commands
  • System Shutdown and IPL procedures
  • Experience with SMPe
  • Program Products Tools Experience
  • IBM Utilities
  • No Security clearance required
  • Analytical Thinking
  • Team Player
  • Detail Oriented
  • Good Communication Skills (written & oral)
