As a Technical Writer/Editor you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Translate technical information into clear, concise documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Develop and/or maintain the following types of documentation: communications for diverse stakeholder groups; system documentation and release notes; user manuals and training guides; installation guides; computer operations and program maintenance manuals; plans for training, testing, quality assurance, and contingency operations; backup, recovery, and restart procedures; proposals, presentations, reports, standard operating procedures (SOP), policies and procedures.
  • Edit of special reports or any other deliverables and documents.
  • Manage multiple writing and editing assignments in a dynamic, agile systems development work environment within stated timelines. 
  • Work closely with software engineers/architects and software systems directly to document client-specific processes and procedures, for multiple stakeholder groups (technical and non-technical), in a variety of easy-to-understand, instructional formats (user guides, job aids, etc.). 
  • Work closely with software engineers/architects and software systems directly to document internal processes and procedures. 
  • Work with team members and client to review and revise documents timely to achieve client’s approval.
  • Create and review non-technical and technical documents, in electronic and hardcopy formats prepared using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, or Excel, to ensure they are error-free, readable, and adhere to style and accessibility standards. 
  • Review and correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling as well as readability and clarity of every sentence. 
  • Review text for consistent use of terminology, acronyms, and abbreviations.
  • Confirm documents conform to client-specific style, tone, and document layout standards.
  • Review client’s editorial comments and assist teams in revising the client-specific Writing Style Guide and document templates, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 to 7 years of professional experience.
  • Ability to independently conduct interviews with IT, Finance, and Customer Service staff in order to document processes and workflows.
  • Experience documenting processes and workflows using Microsoft Office Software.
  • Experience documenting IT processes and workflows.
  • Able to work without assistance.
  • Provide leadership to others.
  • Able to manage complex work efforts.
  • Secret Clearance required.
