GDIT is seeking an experienced system engineer to support a complex infrastructure on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services program for patent assessments and provider surveys and certifications. 

This role is responsible for the upkeep, configuration and reliable operation of computer systems, including:  installation of system-wide software, resolution of network issues, updating equipment and software, creation/administration of profiles and accounts, maintenance of systems documentation, and tuning system performance for optimal conditions.

Principal Duties / Responsibilities

  • Develop, install, configure, and maintain/monitor infrastructure components in support of the QIES contract with CMS.
    • Deploy, monitor, and maintain web and middleware tools in both physical and virtual environments.
    • Develop, configure, install, and maintain virtualization projects using VMWare and AWS environments for the development, test and production environments within the QIES project.
    • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Ensures all new and modified systems are efficiently configured and fully tested.
  • Provides troubleshooting support for system hardware and software issues.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to project teams in the design, planning and configuration of technical approaches to appropriately utilize and run within the network infrastructure.
  • Act as primary liaison with other support organizations within CMS infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Ensure all systems meet all CMS and GDIT cybersecurity compliance and vulnerability requirements.
  • Works issue tickets as assigned by the Helpdesk and others using tracking software like ServiceNow.
  • Provide on-call support for the production systems during off hours.
  • Participates in special projects as required.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related business or technical discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience required.
  • Experience with the following technologies:
    • OS:  Linux, Windows operating systems
    • Middleware:  Apache Tomcat, WebLogic 12C
    • WebServer:  Apache
    • Infrastructure:  AWS EC2, VMWare, Dell VXRail, Dell server hardware
    • Monitoring:  Splunk, New Relic, Nagios
  • Microsoft Windows Server certification preferred
  • Self-managed.  Ability to work independently from a remote environment with minimal supervision.

The likely salary range for this position is $76,000 - $114,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
