GDIT is currently seeking a Network Administrator for IT network administration team of a major federal customer providing security services including cyber incident response, threat analysis and security operations support.

Job Description:

The Network Administrator will provide technical expertise working independently and/or with other engineers. The primary area of responsibility will include the administration and support of existing and new infrastructure to include customer network and system administration across multiple domains/networks.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Administering operation of network services according to Government policies and procedures
  • Coordinating and implementing network software and hardware upgrades
  • Provide network system administration support to existing and new infrastructure, including ongoing network support, network availability and addressing performance problems that may be present.
  • Provide quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing network configurations to support future growth and expansion.
  • Provision, configure, and troubleshoot network systems in support of Projects and customer needs.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, plan and execute switch configurations.
  • Provide quality assurance review for new and existing network configurations.
  • Support infrastructure and network system assessments for capacity planning in support of future growth.
  • Provide Tier 3 support troubleshooting network systems when necessary. Provide recommendations for improvements to those systems/devices.
  • Participate in design reviews, program reviews and technical meetings as needed.
  • Draft supporting system documentation; system design, system diagram, system security plan, etc…
  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions
  • Work hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm, Days Monday – Friday in Beltsville, MD.


Candidates MUST possess an active secret clearance.

  • 5+ in the Network Administration, Network Systems Integration, or Engineering field
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Understanding of network system implementation, design, maintenance and general administration duties.
  • Proficient understanding of enterprise design theory and best practices
  • Experience with the implementation of network security configuration settings and implementation of security best practices.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals, sub-netting and other networking fundamentals.
  • The ability to quickly and thoroughly diagnose and resolve issues within the network.
  • Solid understanding of Network fundamentals to include TCP/IP and sub-netting
  • The ability to quickly and thoroughly diagnose and resolve issues within the network.
  • Ability to work both independently and within teams/groups.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize severity of projects.
  • Ability to create and maintain proper documentation for all projects assigned.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, analytical problem solving ability, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills in technical, business, and client interactions
