Senior Systems Administrator, Configuration and Test Manager

GDIT is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to help support our Department of State IRM IT Support Program in the Washington DC Capitol Region.

As a Senior Systems Administrator supporting the Department of State Team, you will be trusted to have an excellent understanding of operating and software configuration management and testing best practices.  We are looking for a qualified Senior Systems Administrator who has a passion for quality to help ensure the systemic integrity of Department of State systems.

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Senior Systems Administrator supporting the Department of State IRM program, you will be trusted to lead a wide variety of work to maintain a reliable and secure operating environment. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Maintaining the established standard operating environment (SOE) for the desktops and remote devices.
  • Updating Windows 10 systems to latest builds.
  • Performing duties using provided tools to identify, mitigate risk, and remove vulnerabilities from the desktops and remote devices.
  • Deploying patches and software updates on desktops, remote devices, and servers.
  • Deploying non-standard operating environment software such as MS Visio, MS Project, Adobe Acrobat, etc. to desktops and remote devices. 
  • Managing service requests within the ticketing system.
  • Identifies and resolves technical problems related to software deployments.
  • Create reports using SQL reporting.
  • Modify/build software packages /updates for applications.
  • Run PowerShell scripts to resolve issue with MECM/SCCM clients and WMI repository.
  • Create, test, and troubleshoot GPOs as needed.
  • Create and execute test scripts for prerelease testing of image updates and patches against operating environment.
  • Create packages and deploy driver and BIOS updates.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience providing IT technical support or administering IT systems.
  • Junior level MECM/SCCM experience.
  • Experience patching, deploying software, and resolving MECM/ SCCM client problems.
  • Knowledge and experience with Active Directory GPOs; creating, deploying and troubleshooting.
  • Strong prioritization, problem solving, diagnosis, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Work well under pressure with differing levels of management.
  • Exposure to a variety of network monitoring systems.
  • Understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM)
  • Experience using ITIL Ticket Management System – ServiceNow or equivalent.
  • Experience with Active Directory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with the ITIL 3 or 4 Framework
  • Security+ CE certification
  • PowerShell scripting experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, Business (or related field of study) or High School Diploma
  • One or more of the following certifications are preferred:  MCSA, MS Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, ITIL 4 Foundation.

Citizenship Requirement: US Citizen

Clearance Required: Active Secret, clearable to Top Secret
