At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Systems Administrator supporting the client, see below some of the responsibilities and tasks in a typical day :

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Develop technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.

  • Provide interpretation to systems matters that are moderately complex in nature.

  • Provide troubleshooting support for system hardware and software issues that are highly complex in scope.

  • Train end users on the proper use of hardware and software, and may train large groups of end users.

  • Perform advance software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.

  • Apply advanced knowledge in monitoring and tuning the system to achieve optimum performance levels.

  • Provide guidance to less experienced personnel on workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.

  • Conduct advanced to complex hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

  • Ensure that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users. Uses extensive independent judgement and is unsupervised.

  • Serve as the recognized subject matter expert in job area typically through advanced education and work experience. Manages large projects with limited oversight from manager.

  • Evaluate and assess existing systems and plans long-term strategies.

  • Perform system patching and vulnerability management across multiple systems

  • Create and manage OUs and GPOs within Activate Directory environment

  • Manage user accounts and group permissions utilizing Activity Directory tools

  • Maintain integrity and security of servers and optimize system performance and reliability

  • Ensure security best practices are implemented and STIG enforced

  • Manage and track ServiceNow incidents, requests, problem and change request ticketing system.

  • May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.

  • May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience, and 8+ years of relevant work experience

  • 8+ years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

  • ITIL v3 Certification preferred

  • DoDI 8570.01m Certification required, such as Security + CE
