General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has an immediate requirement for a Statistical Data Scientist for our federal client. 



Statistical Data Scientist to apply statistical methods, analysis and models to detect fraud within the mailing supply chain.  Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Data Extraction and Loading – Connecting, querying, preparing and loading large data sets from various structured and unstructured data sources and automating the data extraction, cleansing, preparation and loading processes using various programming languages to include Teradata SQL, Oracle SQL, C, C++, Python, R and/or Perl.
  • Applying data science methods and approaches to identify fraud detection within the mail preparation, mail payment, mailing systems, behaviors and mail processing systems within the organization. Methods used should minimally include, standard deviation, variance, regression, trend analysis, correlation, Benford's law, Z-score, relative size factor, cluster detection, classification techniques, neural networks, random forests, decision trees, sampling and other techniques.

Please Note:  We can only accept US citizens and or Green Card Holders.  The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years and not have left the country for more than 180 cumulative days.


Must have a bachelor's degree in math, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing large sets of data within a centralized data management platform.
  • Demonstrated experience to design, develop and execute automated statistical scripts in order to efficiently analyze and review the mailing data using SAS Viya.
  • Experience documenting and deriving conclusions from analysis to support the detection of probable revenue/payment fraud.
  • Demonstrated experience to represent analysis and research results using tabular, pictorial or graphical techniques. The supplier should have demonstrated experience with delivering summary results to various levels of an organization in formats, which are easy to understand. The supplier should be familiar with various data representation and visualization tools to include SAS Visual Analytics and Tableau.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in math, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Good communication skills verbally and written.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
