Senior System Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools for an unclassified Unix and Windows enclave. Contractor must create policies and procedures to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability required to run the evaluation of various technical solutions.

Additional tasking shall include researching, evaluating, comparing, and recommending COTS, GOTS, and FOSS libraries, frameworks, and tools across multiple disciplines that could integrate into a future system of system (SoS) software stack. Contractor must be familiar with current industry standards, trends and tool suites used in infrastructure operations such as, Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM), On-prem and AWS, Configuration Management (CM) and Auto Provisioning and Systems Monitoring and Analytics

Senior System Administrator shall possess the following:

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
  • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
  • Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
  • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning
  • Provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems
  • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
  • Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
  • Configure and manage Linus, UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
  • Support the design of systems, mission architecture and associated hardware
  • Possess a working knowledge and understanding of system administration interdependencies as part of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration

 Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with scripting Bash/Python
  • Experience with using the Unix command line
  • Experience performing System Administration including installation, configuration, and sustainment of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software in a CentOS, Linux, Unix and Windows environment
  • Experience configuring, and sustaining storage appliances such as NetApps and JBODs and other tools
  • Experience with IaC concepts and tools such as Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet, and Chef
  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • TS/SCI required, candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph
