The Senior Performance and Monitoring Engineer will be responsible for the monitoring, analysis, troubleshooting and reporting for overall operational performance. This includes but not limited to Infrastructure, Application, Network and Security. This individual will take an active role in driving performance enhancements, and leading targeted process improvement initiatives. The role defines the metrics, data collection methods, and reporting mechanisms as well as implementation of an overall performance management strategy. Ensures the effective capture of all logging and monitoring of all aspects of system and application behavior to facilitate fast detection and resolution of issues.
This role will be the SME in troubleshooting all performance issue across the Enterprise. Training or experience interacting with or configuring Azure Stack Hub would be highly desirable. Additionally, the position will require an individual experienced in system design and integration, identity life-cycle management, and process automation and improvement. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills, who exceeds as an individual, as well as, excels among peers in a team environment. The individual should possess a passion for operational excellence and a high level of interpersonal and soft skills.
General Dynamics Information Technology has an immediate opportunity for Senior Performance and Monitoring Engineer with the following duties and responsibilities included (but not limited to):
Participates in designing and defining system architecture for new or existing VDI computer systems.
Analyze users requirements concept of operations documents and high level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
Analyze system requirements and leads design and development activities for the VDI environment.
Guide users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies.
Provide technical leadership for the integration of VDI requirements, design, and technology.
Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.
Develop VDI system architecture and system design documentation.
Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.
Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
Communicate with other program personnel.
Engineer, install and sustain Windows Event Forwarding (WEF)
Perform security hardening on Windows servers, based on DoD STIG requirements
Manage monitoring of overall application availability, latency and system health
Determine alert standards for production environments and implement them
Develop strategies for logging and indexing to improve visibility to development teams
Minimum Education Required:
BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related scientific or technical discipline is preferred
Allowable Substitution: Six (6) years of related experience or four (4) years of related experience with an AA/AS degree
Minimum Experience Required:
5+ years of experience related to Performance analysis and monitoring across multiple areas including Infrastructure, Application, Network and Security for medium to large scale Enterprises.
Expert knowledge of IT performance metrics. Experience with data management, report design, data visualization and presentation techniques
Expert experience with Application and Network Performance Management Tools
Experience with Network or Security Operations Center
Expert experience with networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, VLANS, routing
Candidate should have advanced knowledge of troubleshooting performance issues with complex large-scale multi-tier and distributed application infrastructures.
Ability to work with little supervision in high stress / high visibility environments with time sensitive requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to take direction and retain information
Applies advanced methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of the complex system requirements and problems. Develops training tools and documentation; oversees implementation of same
Provides technical consultation on current and proposed systems to other organizations and clients
Assist in the planning and performing of analytical research, design development, and other assignments in conformance with design, engineering and customer specifications
Applies new solutions through research and collaboration with team and determines course of action for new application initiatives
DoD 8570 Baseline Certification Requirement: IAT Level II (Security+CE or equivalent)
Desired Certification(s): SolarWinds Certified Professional, ScienceLogic Certified Professional, GIAC Continuous Monitoring Certification, Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or equivalent
Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: Top Secret/SCI
Clearance Level Must Be Able To Maintain: Top Secret SCI + CI Polygraph
