 GDIT is looking for a Sr Data Scientist to  support the Healthcare Quality Analytics and Reporting Contract (HCQAR) under the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS). You will be responsible for providing statistical support and project specific leadership for research and development of analytic services and projects.


  • Plans data collection, and analyzes and interprets statistical data from surveys, experiments, studies, and other sources.
  • Plans methods to collect information and develops questionnaire techniques according to survey design.
  • Conducts surveys, evaluates reliability of source information, adjusts and weighs raw data, analyzes and interprets statistics, and organizes results.
  • Prepares conclusions and predictions based on data summaries.
  • Prepares reports, charts, tables, and other visual aids.
  • May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced statisticians.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Manage and monitor the integrity of data ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of contract requirements, in addition to serving as a technical resource to researchers, customers, and internal team members regarding the availability and reliability of data sources and health services’ research methodologies.
  • Oversee the creation of analytic code and datasets for various contracts; may also create the code depending on the complexity.
  • Designing optimal methodologies for database design and reporting systems including sampling, data collection tool design and statistical modeling.
  • Direct and/or participate in research projects.
  • Oversee the creation of documentation for measure algorithms, database accuracy, features of datasets, options for research methodologies, etc.
  • Data mining of Medicare data Provide subject matter expertise for development of business intelligence tools


  • Master’s required. PhD Degree preferred. 5-8 years of related statistical analysis experience.


  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures of statistical analysis. Strong quantitative and data analysis skills.
  • Effective communications skills.
  • May require proficiency in the use of one or more specific technologies, such as SAS.
  • Experience manipulating data with SAS and creating output used by MS Office products.
  • Experience working with large data sets preferred.
  • Experience with Medicare claims data preferred.
