At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Systems Administrator supporting our client, here are some of the tasks and responsibilities required in a typical day:


  • Under general supervision, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for providing second level telephone support to end-user community on hardware, software and network related problems, questions and/or issues.
  • Will troubleshoot and determine problems for operating systems, applications and remote access, email and telephone and wireless issues.
  • Will be responsible for network and email account provisioning and management, as well as, wireless mobility problems, issues or request.
  • Wil define and classify level, priority and nature of problem, request and/or issue.
  • Will diagnose problem which may require physical interaction with end user and if needed the technician escalates problem to the appropriate team.
  • Will be responsible for opening, tracking and closing trouble tickets, and will track activities of field engineers who are assigned to tickets.
  • Will ensure ownership of problem and will promote end-user satisfaction.
  • Must possess an advanced technical skill and knowledge in computer hardware and software as well as networking systems in use at customer sites.
  • This Systems Administration role will require work experience and knowledge of installation, configuration and troubleshooting of computers.
  • Must have basic knowledge of help desk call tracking management systems.
  • Requires strong communication and excellent customer service skills.


  • Requires a good working knowledge of applications software, hardware, operating system software, networking and systems documentation support issues 
  • Excellent communication skills and must be able to interpret user comments, identify problems and provide timely resolution, often on complex technical issues 
  • Must be detail oriented and organized and have the ability to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work 
  • BS or BA degree preferred and/or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. 
  • 2+ years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis. 
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required
  • IAT II DoD 8570.01Certification required, such as Security + CE
  • Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) Certification preferred 
  • ITIL v3/ ITIL v4 Certification preferred
