GDIT is looking for a software engineer to work independently on-site with one of our government customers at Aberdeen Proving Ground. The position requires a person who is self-motivated, can quickly adapt to change, provides thoughtful insight into technical challenges, and is able to quickly derive the root cause of technical issues.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Windows system administration (creation of Windows user accounts and updating of Windows Server OS as required). Experience building/maintaining servers (proxy, IIS, ADFS) is required. To perform these tasks, a candidate should possess basic scripting skills using bash, Perl, and Windows Powershell.
The candidate will be asked to update software to meet security requirements. Familiarity with DISA STIGS in support of Information Assurance requirements would be considered a plus.
Experience building/integrating COTS/GOTS software such as Geoserver, Tomcat, PostgreSQL, OpenSSL, Karaf and VM Ware is highly desired. Experience programming with Java and C++ would be beneficial.

Specific roles & responsibilities for the position include but not limited to the following:
Maintains the integrity and security of Microsoft servers and systems.
Sets up Microsoft administrator and service accounts.
Provides input on the development of design, implementation, operations, user guides, and training materials.
Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
Develops and monitors MilCloud policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.
Maintains knowledge and understanding of current and emerging technologies, equipment and systems. Keeps current on issues, practices and procedures
Reviews and provides input to policies and standard operating procedures
Performs other related duties as assigned
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
5+ years of directly related experience in systems administration and development
Secret Level security clearance.
