Our work depends on VMWare Senior Systems Engineer to work on the administration, operations and sustainment, and security of VMWare 6.7 virtualization infrastructure and VMWare Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure in a Windows Active Directory (AD) environment.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:

• Collaborate with customers to solve their VMWare virtualization problems with innovative technical approaches and resilient IT solutions
• Engineer for VMWare ESX/ESXi virtualization within vSphere 6.7 or higher environment
• Plan and execute platform upgrade activities for VMWare
• Plan, coordinate, manage sustainment tasks for VMWare Horizon VDI
• Assist with patching of Windows Operating System (OS), and Application software using SCCM
• Assist with managing Active Directory/ Windows infrastructure/domains; plans and executes platform upgrade activities
• Participate in or lead troubleshooting and incident resolution of complex high severity incidents
• Monitor and ensure that backup data and resilience methods are scheduled and functioning appropriately
• Coordinates and performs operating system (OS)/firmware upgrades, patch and vulnerability management for OS and application software
• Develop system administration documentation in support of accreditation requirements
• Investigate and propose solutions for development and customer needs to improve reliability, continuity, and maintainability for Windows systems hardware and software
• Support after hours for critical/high severity issues
• Update management and project leadership for ongoing critical/high severity issues

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Education and Experience:  BS Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field with 10 + years’ experience in a technical role (May substitute a masters with 8-10 years, PhD with 5-7 years, HS diploma with 14 years of experience in lieu of degree)
• Required Technical Skills:  Minimum of 8 years of engineering or system administration (SA) experience; Minimum of 4 years engineering or SA experience with the following technologies: VMWare datacenter virtualization within vSphere 6.x, Windows Server (2019, 2016, or 2012r2), Active Director infrastructure (deployment/upgrades), Group Policy administration/ Windows security; VMWare Horizon VDI (deployment/upgrades); Have or obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security + CE, etc.) within 60 days of beginning position.
• Security Clearance Level:  Secret (active DoD or equivalent)
• Location:  Falls Church, VA onsite
• US Citizenship Required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Blade server systems (HP C7000 desired)
• Network Administration
• Storage Area Networks (NetApp desired)
• Solar Winds
• Experience with patch management using multiple tools (SCCM, WSUS, etc.)
• Proficient with DoD security assessment/hardening tools (STIG, SCAP, checklists, Nessus, etc.)
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Proven ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
• Project management skills for setting priorities to meet project deadline.
• Ability to understand and apply knowledge of current industry standard systems architectures
• Strong critical thinking skills that facilitate timely problem-solving
