GDIT has partnered with NASA to consolidate select Procurement, Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology activities from the ten NASA Centers into a single shared services center located at Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi. Our work depends on a Procurement Specialist I to support our team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide entry-level knowledge and experience in procurement practices and principles such as: soliciting, evaluating, negotiating and preparing contracts for award; administering contracts; and analyzing and evaluating cost and price proposals.
Maintain excellent communication with customers.
Exercise of independent judgement and discretion on matters of significance.
Processes requests for proposals RFP’s, RFQ’s, and bids for products and services of a complex nature that are typically high profile, non-routine, large-in-scope, or multi-year requests.
Coordinates and serves as a resource in the distribution of procurement work for buyers.
Comply with company guidelines for Quality Control and Federal laws.
Maintain an understanding of policies, procedures and regulations relevant to company policies.
Performs other procurement-related duties as required.

High school diploma and 0 years of experience. Previous experience in professional procurement, purchasing, or contracts is a plus.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Possess a working knowledge of procurement policies and procedures.
Strong math, analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential. The candidate should be detail-oriented, a team player, possessing negotiation skills and the ability to work independently as needed. An understanding of business operations and processes is important to their work. Additionally, the candidate needs strong interpersonal skills, as they work with a diverse number of people, such as team members, customer, managers and supervisors.
Demonstrate ability to utilize database network software, financial and procurement software applications, and web development software.
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
