We are seeking highly motivated engineers with a thirst for learning, in support a geographically dispersed, state of the art systems that seamlessly integrate Linux and Microsoft services. Positions will provide engineering support to multiple WAN connected sites, with data flows crossing various controlled interfaces, and will follow specific IT project management and engineering lifecycle processes. Engineers will be responsible for supporting their solutions throughout the IT project lifecycle, to include refining requirements, creating design documentation, creating installation instructions and deployment plans, and providing O&M support. Project assignments will vary based on skill level, and may include engineering geographically dispersed services, integrating services into public, private and hybrid cloud environments, engineering solutions to be deployed via automated CM tools, and hardening the solutions to address security and SCAP compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, operate, manage and maintain storage area networks and virtualized systems.
  • Configuring, analyzing, monitoring and optimizing storage and interfaces to storage and related data paths (such as iSCSI devices, Fiber Channel, LUN sizing); Conducting capacity planning and monitoring
  • Working with product vendors to resolve hardware issues, and to improve the use and configuration of vendor products and technologies (such as replication and management software, RAID Configurations and multi-pathing)
  • Managing permissions, maintenance, administration, capacity planning and monitoring, and assist in backup and data recovery
  • Documenting, troubleshooting and resolving associated change requests and incidents tickets
  • Creating reports and recommending courses of action for service improvement for administered SANs
  • Ensuring SANs are patched, operational, and optimized for performance
  • Administer, develop, manage, and perform disaster recovery procedures and processes for managed SANs and virtual environments.
  • Performing backup and data recovery
  • Troubleshooting errors in backups and restores
  • Serve as a hands-on valued contributor to many initiatives within the infrastructure engineering team and work closely with other teams to address issues and ensure problems are resolved in a timely and in an efficient manner
  • Maintain the integrity and security of storage systems by following established security protocols and practices; analyze systems and keep systems current with changing technologies. 
  • Perform system updates, make recommendations on server configurations, and implement changes in multiple environments from test or development to production.
  • Respond to alerts, customer reported issues, escalate problems as required, and resolve significant matters exercising independent judgment and within established support practices.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated success in provisioning and maintaining iSCSI, SAN/NAS and backup technologies
  • Experience with file, volume, and virtual machine backups
  • Experience with various cloud provider environments such as AWS and Azure
  • Experience with layers 1 through 4 of the OSI networking model to support iSCSI storage as well as object storage
  • Knowledge and proficiency in delivering storage and backup services in a multi-tenant environment
  • Research, learn, and evaluate emerging technologies in storage and backup
  • Experience with managing work tasks via tools such as JIRA and ServiceNow
  • System configuration based on security guidelines such as DISA STIGs
  • CompTIA Security+ or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification
