Guard Enterprise Cyber Operations Support (GECOS) – VDI Administrator: THIS POSITION ALLOWS FOR UP TO 2 DAYS REMOTE WORK A WEEK.

GDIT has an opening for a Systems Administrator – VDI Administrator position supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) in Chantilly, VA. This is an IT Service Management contract in support of the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG’s global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services.  The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. GECOS uses ITIL best practices framework as the basis for IT Service Management (ITSM) model.

The work includes the following:

  • Updating and patching Windows Gold/Master/SHB image.

  • Enhancing and fine-tuning performance on VDI desktop.

  • Securing VDI desktop policies in Active Directory and DEM (Device Endpoint Manager).

  • Develops advanced technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.

  • Troubleshoots highly complex system hardware and software issues.

  • Develops training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software.

  • Develops implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.

  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.

  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.

  • Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.

  • Conducts advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

  • Develops performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users.

  • Evaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategies.

  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.

  • May serve as a team or task lead.


BA/BS or equivalent years of combined experience and training.


6+ years of IT experience with 1-2 years of hands on experience administering a Virtual Desktop Integration.


IAT Level II is required (i.e. Security+)

Operating System Computing Environment Certification - MCSA 2016 or AZ-104 or VCP Certifications (if not presently holding certification must be able to obtain within 6 months of start date.
