At GDIT, people are our differentiator. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Developing and implementing web applications and/or services using object-oriented programming with a focus on building RESTful services to support the User Interface and middle tier as well as implementing support for data connections.
  • Working with the Systems Engineer and fellow Developers to create detailed designs, translate and decompose requirements and develop key features and enhancements as well as troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Designing and implementing user experience (UI) for web applications to enhance existing UI interfaces and design new interfaces. The UI developer will work with the Systems Engineer and fellow Developers to create detailed designs translate and decompose requirements and develop key features and enhancements as well as troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience with Java development within the last 3 years using Spring.
  • Demonstrated experience developing micro-services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing secure RESTful services.
  • Demonstrated experience with database development such as MySQL, Mongo.
  • Ability to change direction with changing requirements or architectural changes.
  • Demonstrated experience improving legacy code.
  • For UI function, demonstrated with developing UIs using modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, NodeJS, and SASS.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building web applications as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing user needs to determine technical requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience creating wireframes, storyboards, and/or user flow models.

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience within an Agile environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting development in sponsors applications.
  • Experience establishing, monitoring and managing Kafka service or like technologies.
  • Experience utilizing infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Demonstrated experience or certification in cloud technologies creating self-healing/auto-scaling systems.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 10+ years of experience.
