GDIT is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer who specializes in transport engineering to help support the JSP ETM program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.
Duties of the Transport Engineer include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for Engineering and O&M support for MAN/CAN Transport networks.
Responsible for all aspects of IT life cycle for equipment and Network availability to include design, cost estimates, network integration, implementation, O&M, and LCR.
Must demonstrate expert level understanding of Optical/DWDM Transport.
Will serve on a team of Engineers that serve as Tier III/IV SME’s for the Tech Control Transport networks.
Must develop engineering solutions for delivering command & control service within the NCR.
Will maintain training/Lab environment to ensure it mirrors production network.
Develop detailed Engineering diagrams & drawings of Network architecture.
Will engage directly with Vendor support for RMA activities, upcoming capabilities, and architectural alignment.
Responsible for the daily Operations, Administration, Maintenance, & Provisioning of Optical/DWD, TDMoIP, MPLS, & Legacy Point to Point network systems.
Active Secret clearance
DoD 8570 Level II certification
Bachelors Degree OR equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
8 years direct experience with Tech Control related disciplines
IT engineering experience
Demonstrate expert level understanding of TDM, SONET, and DWDM Transport systems to include PROMINA, CIENA 3500 & 6500, CISCO-ONS-15454, CISCO 4206 & 4016, and NOKIA SAR 8/18.
Must have working knowledge of Crypto devices (FASTLANES/TACLANES, KIV, KG)
Must be well versed in rules, regulations, and standards prescribed in DISA circulars.
Candidate must be able to provide training to subordinates and peers.
Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively to personnel of various expertise levels.
Solid Customer Support Skills in a high visibility environment.
Solid Communication skills (verbal and written) plus Interpersonal skills
Active TS/SCI clearance
