Seeking a SATCOM Network Engineer to join our team.
Must be a US Citizen and the candidate must be local to the office.
This is a position for an experienced Network Engineer with 5+ years of Cisco based experience that will include routing and switching.
Must also possess basic understanding of commercial satellite communications (SATCOM) data flow from mobile unit all the way through to the receiving land station utilizing Ku, Ka, and L Band terminals; military SATCOM background is a big plus.
Will be responsible for ensuring network systems are up to Department of Defense (DoD) security standards; this will require proven experience with Security and Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) implementation as well as working with local Information Assurance team for full systems accreditation.
Some travel will be required to install and troubleshoot systems mainly within the contiguous US.
Evaluates, designs, documents, installs, implements, tests, and performs problem isolation and resolution; and monitors, tunes, sets standards and maintains a range of computer network components and systems.
Performs these functions across some, but not all, physical media, protocol stacks, switches, routers, bridges, gateways, and network management components in data, voice, and video environments.
Provides client consulting and training on the interface and use of the network facilities.
Begins to plan research; evaluate and recommend new computer network equipment; and utilize new technologies.
Uses monitoring, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems; gage network performance; and trace data and protocol activity.
Devises solutions to operational problems within the capacity and operational limitations of installed equipment.
May develop and execute contingency plans for network software and hardware failures including isolated and major outages.
8 years of relevant experience is required. BA/BS degree preferred
