We are seeking a Desktop/Laptop Engineering Manager to support work on our federal client, the Commodity Futures Trading Commissions (CFTC)’ infrastructure operations, maintenance, and support services. This is a full-time position and can be 100% remote.  

Areas of responsibilities:

Recommend and implement improvements to desktop architecture and design

Provides technical leadership and recommendations for best practices to senior management regarding end user device(laptop/desktop) Management/configuration, designs, maintains, and troubleshoots operating system images and task sequences for a variety of hardware and virtual platforms, team designs, packages,

Executes application deployments, perform advanced troubleshooting on desktop/laptop related issues using industry standard tools,.

Write and maintain scripts using industry standard scripting languages including PowerShell, configures, deploys, and monitors OS and application updates through Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and SCCM.

Designs, manages, and troubleshoots (Client) Group Policy throughout the enterprise with a focus on application delivery and workstation management, Develop and collaborate across IT and business leaders for the technical strategy for the enterprise laptop/desktop end user devices.

Provide project management expertise to deliver projects within budget, schedule and quality

Support key IT operational processes such as incident management, problem management and change management

Support all information security processes and standards including patch management, configuration management, and vulnerability management

Draft and publish change impact communication plans to the business and IT stakeholders as required

Work collaboratively with IT service management to develop knowledge articles and training for the IT support staff

Coach, mentor and develop required skills, capabilities, and standard operating processes

• Develop and foster a team atmosphere that exhibits teamwork within the team and other cross functional teams

• Manages people, processes, expense and project budgets, performance management, compliance activities, and associate development as required by the job


Current or prior experience with the federal government (directly or indirectly)

Permanent Residency or U.S. Citizenship

Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), and it’s use for managing features, settings, and configurations of Windows, Office, and third‐party applications

Windows 10 Enterprise operating system features, settings, and installation

Active Directory and Group Policy

Microsoft Azure/Azure Active Directory

Lead troubleshooting hardware and application configurations as it relates to workstation performance and end user experience

Scripting in PowerShell and/or VBScript

BIOS functions and configuration

•Attention to detail and the ability to multi‐task in a fast‐paced environment to achieve operational and project goals and objectives

Strong ability and experience with managing and developing a team

•Strong knowledge of ITIL processes

•Prior management experience (projects, resources, and staff)

14+ years of experience in management and engineering of end user devices and leading technical teams

Managed 1200+ end user infrastructure.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, Communications or related discipline or extensive demonstrated equivalent experience or without degree 16 or more years of experience related

to position.
