Join GDIT and be part of the team of men and woman that solve the world’s most complex technical challenges.  The NCIS team is searching for a Field Computer Specialist to join their program at the NCIS Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, Washington, DC.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of over 2,200 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the Department of Navy (DON) component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters.  NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities.  

NCIS provides the DON with threat status and warnings associated with terrorist, criminal, cyber, and counterintelligence activity throughout the world.  NCIS is the only DON organization that has the information and responsibility to fuse and analyze the national intelligence and law enforcement information necessary to provide these warnings.  

The Digital Business Directorate (DBD) supports the NCIS core mission areas to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats by planning for and providing services through appropriate use of the people, equipment, technology, and infrastructure resources of the United States Navy and Marine Corps.  

Duties and Tasks:

  • Provide IT support throughout area of responsibility

  • Utilize ServiceNow for change management, ticketing system and asset inventory

  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts for resolution of network outages

  • Perform Trusted Agent functions for SIPR Token program

  • Assist users in the region with VTC system deployment and maintenance

  • Support various admin duties, ex. Audits, inspections, create SOP, various data calls, training requirements, etc.

  • Support NMCI by gathering requirements, ordering equipment, and coordinating with the Contract Technical Representative (CTR).

  • Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets, configure equipment out-of-the-box, and support troubleshooting


  • Helps diagnose and resolve computer-related problems as requested by employees and contractors, either in person or by using remote control software

  • Responds to telephone calls and email requests for technical support

  • Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves problems with business applications and hardware on all enclaves

  • Performs general maintenance tasks and resolves less complex problems immediately, while more complex issues are communicated to a higher level of support

  • Accurately documents all work in appropriate problem-tracking software

Regular visits are from once a month to quarterly, based on IT projects or critical outages.

  • AAS degree or additional relevant work experience

  • 5+ years of experience with network administration and user support; Experience in a military environment is a plus

  • Experience with installation, operation, configuration, and maintenance of multiple types of business and end user-specific application software in a large government installation

  • Familiarity with a variety of technical support applications, concepts, practices and procedures

  • Current DoD 8570 - IAT Level II (GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, or CCNA-Security)

  • Required: Eligible and adjudicated to Secret clearance to start; ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI
