At GDIT, our people are our differentiator.  Our work depends on a Senior Systems Engineer of Windows systems environments joining our team to support one of our Federal Government customers.  As a Senior Systems Engineer – Windows, you will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all VMware environments and have the overall responsibility of designing, deploying, testing, certification, patching, and addressing interoperability issues of all VMware components, including the hypervisor, vSphere, NSX, vRealize Suite, and Site Recovery Manager under this contract.

  • Design, implement, and provide ongoing support of the on-premises hybrid and cloud Infrastructure
  • Create and maintain on-premises cloud, software defined data center infrastructure
  • Evaluate, improve, and maintain the information security throughout the virtualized infrastructure
  • Engineer and implement solutions for multi factor authentication
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain system management tools, infrastructure, and server plugins
  • Participate in the design of information and operational systems
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Monitor and correct storage issues and create recovery processes and hardware for failures and performance bottlenecks
  • Communicate and coordinate with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks, such as automated provisioning storage with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
  • Provide Level IV support
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for systems and system configurations

Required Qualifications:

  • VMware Data Center Virtualization or Cloud Management and Automation certification within the last five years
  • 8+ years of experience
  • An active Top Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience)
