GDIT is looking for a Solutions Architect to provide leadership on a mission-critical program whose purpose is to develop modernize, enhance, operate and maintain border security services for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mission critical surveillance and Command and Control systems. As a team leader, the Solutions Architect works with both business development and the program office, to generate creative solutions aligned to customer priorities and to ensure current programs deliver successfully on technical requirements.
In support of programs, the Solutions Architect is responsible for technical performance on assigned programs and will serve as the GDIT single point-of-contact with the program office for technical matters and issues. He/she will provide the planning, direction, coordination, and control necessary to accomplish work requirements and manage and oversee all technical activities performed by contractor personnel, including subcontractors and vendors, to satisfy the contract needs. They will also be responsible for designing technological solutions (sometimes with a great degree of creativity involved) high-level functional systems analysis, design, and integration advice on complex matters that require expert level knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation.
In support of business development, the Solutions Architect will lead the development and demonstration of strategic solutions. They will provide comprehensive systems engineering oversight, analytical, and technical support services required to deliver a broad range of innovative sensor, surveillance, IT solutions and professional services to modernize CBP/DHS legacy systems, protect their networks and assets, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of mission-critical and mission-support functions. These tasks will require many complex sub-tasks, such as translating the limits and contingencies of problems into specific requirements.
The Solutions Architect must show evidence of excellent problem solving skills as well as keen analytical abilities. They must have strong leadership qualities, as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills. Their resume should reflect an understanding of new and emerging technologies along with potential integrated security applications.
Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or related field.
Preferred: Master's Degree in engineering or other technical field.
20 years of combined experience in use-case development and operational analysis, system or product design, integration and test, and system qualification preferred.
Demonstrated prior success as Lead Design Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, Program Chief Engineer or Integrated Product Team Lead.
Demonstrated prior success as Technical Lead on a major proposal, and ability to brief internally and externally at the senior executive level.
Established relationships with industry leading and emerging hardware and software technology companies.
Ability to independently interact and lead engagement with senior programmatic and technical stakeholders internal and external to GDIT.
Strong systems and design engineering experience, with demonstrated ability to establish a strong technical baseline with disciplined change management, while operating a rapid development environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead across a highly multi-disciplinary team including all design engineering disciplines, technical supplier management, business development, and program leadership.
Ability to travel within CONUS 25% of the time when needed.

Candidate must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Customs and Border Protection Background Investigation (CBP BI). Preference to candidates possessing current, active CBP BI.
Preference to candidates with previous experience with surveillance systems, communication network, command/control solutions, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), including Computer Vision.
Preference to candidates with Capture Management and Program Management leadership experience
