GDIT is hiring a Cloud Data Engineer who will designs develops evaluates, plans and tests engineering specifications for software programs and applications in West Des Moines, IA.
Designs, develops, codes, tests and debugs highly complex new software products or makes significant enhancements to existing software.
Develops and applies advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems.
Resolves highly complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.
Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity.
Factors emerging technologies and product supportability into design and implementation.
Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials.
Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements.
Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel.
Serves as a customer interface to resolve problems and ensure requirements are met on a timely basis.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software developers.
Create working, maintainable, and fast web service APIs, batch processes, event driven processes, and libraries from requirements and in conjunction with other members of your team.
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent, or a Bachelor’s in an unrelated field with at least 5 years of software development experience. A relevant Master's degree is a plus.
2+ years of experience in development with Python 3 and SQL,
1+ years of experience developing on AWS and Linux.
Experience with Cloud platforms is a plus.
Experience with any of the following is a plus: AWS Redshift, Kinesis, Glue, Lambda, EC2, Oracle, Snowflake, Databricks Delta,
Experience with Medicare/Medicaid claims is a plus
Experience with large Data Warehouse is a plus
Ability to write idiomatic Python 3 code.
Knowledge of Python performance techniques.
Familiarity with performance testing and tuning Python servers.
Good working knowledge of unit testing and continuous integration.
Ability to communicate effectively.
